Piano/Keyboard with Sing-Alongs
Artist Bio: Annie Takeuchi is a piano/keyboard entertainer, specializing in senior audiences. She was classically trained at Yale University, and the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance (as well as a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, but that’s another story). Since retiring from marketing consulting in 2013 (another long story), she has volunteered her time performing at the Cincinnati VA’s Community Living Center (Long-Term Care), Clermont Senior Services Adult Day Services, and Anderson Township Senior Center. She has also performed at many senior living facilities, nursing homes, and churches, by herself and also with the One Voice choir and the Kinner Express Old Time String Band.
Program Description: Annie has a library of one-hour themed programs that include sing-alongs for which she provides handouts (and leads the singing). These programs are constantly updated with new songs. She provides some background information or colorful side stories as she introduces each song. Her repertoire is vast and continually expanding, to accommodate requests and preferences of “younger seniors” – in their 60s and 70s. However, her “sweet spot” remains popular music from the 1920’s and later, including Broadway music and standards from the American Songbook. Annie can also play background music for up to 4 hours. As a church pianist, she has a huge repertoire of gospel/religious songs, including many in a “classical” style. And she can still draw on her Conservatory training to perform classical piano music as well.
Equipment Needs: Annie can bring her own keyboard (and stand and chair) if necessary. She can also bring an amplifier/speaker for the keyboard, if the performance space necessitates, and a mic (and mic stand).
Schedule/Availability: Annie is available afternoons and evenings, weekdays or weekends (though she prefers weekday afternoons). Geographically, as an East Sider, she prefers venues east of 71/75, and is also happy to go to Northern Kentucky.
